Pasagshak mission with Sally. Thanks for hanging out with us! Good luck back in Danger Bay!

World's Greatest Hitchhiker

The alternative title was "Why baby thumbs and slamming doors don't mix." Yesterday was pretty exciting. We took our first family trip to the Emergency Room. Paxson has been on a door slamming kick lately, and Stoko's thumb was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Fortunately, the doctors sewed it right back on. For the next few days he's permanently hitchhiking.

Seriously, he's alright. His thumb didn't get cut off, it just looked that way. (It was just the fleshy part.) We've cleaned up most of the blood and you'd never know anything had ever been amiss. Except for Stoko's new giant blue thumb, of course. It's happy to see him back to his normal self.

Rocking a little harder

Rest in peace, Ronnie James Dio. Ride the tiger!

What's wrong with this picture?

Usually, it's bath time, then jammies. This night it was, bath time, then jammies, then bath time encore.

Paxson got a new wetsuit so he can surf with Boppa. So far it holds up well. His booties could use some work.

We doubled up on Pasagshak missions over Mother's Day weekend. The first day was wetsuit weather. Mother's Day itself was amazing. Pax and Stokes got about 6 hour of naked time on the beach and we got our first Alaska sunburn! The big excitement was when the Coast Guard helicopter flew by.

Widgeon Mission

The sunny days daze continues! Hard to believe a year has passed since we moved to Kodiak. Tuesday night, seeing the amazing blue sky, we chartered the Grumman Wigeon for an hour long scenic. Here's our route, if you're curious.

The Captain:

The Co-Pilot:

Cockpit:

We started by flying south towards Chiniak.

Over the old bunkers down there.

Out towards Cape Greville along the Southeastern coastline.

The water was amazingly clear. Serious kelp!

Then we turned inland and flew up the Sacramento River towards Mount Golodof.

The crew.

Pasagshak out the window.

Plenty of snow on the hills!

Here's the Terror Lake dam, where we get our power. Between this and the windmills, we enjoy some of the cheapest electricity in the bush.

The village of Port Lions.

Whale Island

The ruins of Afognak village. It was destroyed by the 1964 Tsunami.

Danger Bay and logging camps. Hi Sally!

Kodiak Sweet Kodiak.

Our house is right under the pontoon.

Coming in for a landing.

Hooray!

Wowzers!
