The Single Parenthood Triathalon

Saturday morning Make-it-Yourself-Triathalon

Swimming at the coast guard pool: (OK these pictures were really shot at the new Kodiak pool a few days ago, but we did make it to the morning Aquatots at the base this morning and saw lots of cool helicopters coming in, hovering, and taking off).

Run the Rock 5K: Thanks to Missy and Jennifer and friends for helping the push and inviting us along!

I believe the stats were 4 pukes, 1 poop and 2 pees (all of the poops and pukes courtesy of the dog Vega....hey, I can at least be happy about that!)

Biking the planks:

Quite the Saturday. How long is it until Tuesday and the return of dual parenting???

Thanks, Nana!

Thanks Nana for coming to visit and babysit and make us treats and play in Kodiak!

Going Rogue

No, this isn't about the new book coming out. It has a different meaning when your two year old is in training. Boodah's on a four day success streak, unless you count that time last night when he was going rogue in the bath tub. We parental units did not appreciate that one. And neither did Stoko-Loco, who had the misfortune of being in the line of fire. By going rogue, I speak of the big job. I believe the term of art is Number Two. Boodah's gone rogue a couple times in his pantalones, too, but we're concentrating on the success. Yes, we are not ashamed to offer chocolate bribes for the successes. Extrinsic motivation is okay on special occasions. Especially those involving big jobs. Hence the little chocolate/big chocolate video from the previous post.

In other developments, Boodah has dropped Boppa and Momma from his vocabulary. It's now Mom, Genabebe, Daddy, or Dawson. He goes with our names when he really needs to get our attention.

Here are some pictures from our Dutch Harbor adventure. It was nice to get back out there and visit our old friends and enjoy old routines like tot-time and story time at the excellent Unlaska library. In some ways, it felt as if we had never left! We were also reminded of how nice the Kodiak weather is by comparison! Enjoying the outdoors in Unalaska really makes a person hearty! It is a beautiful place, but you really can't believe the wind until you experience it in person.

Big fun on the dunes at Summer Bay.

Naho's sand fish artwork.

That last picture appears to be a spotted seal. It was just hanging out on that rock. Unfortunately, overall we didn't take many pictures. Unlike the last two glorious bumper blueberry crops, this year's was a bust, hardly a blueberry to be found! We still wandered out and made the best of it, gathering a handful and enjoying a few momentary sunbeams.

Better end this blog. Somebody's hollering "GENEBEBE!"
