Laughing Buddies

They are starting to entertain each other finally!

Sunset

Of course, this is well after 10 PM, but it's pretty amazing. Sunset at Fort Abercrombie.

That's Boodah staring down the barrel of a gun. A very large gun. You can see his face.

Of course, the whole military angle isn't quite in line with Boodah's name, Pax, or his nickname either. But we did find this on top of the hill, reminiscent of his Missoula roots.

He's being coy here.

Two buddies!

The scenery is in some places like Dutch Sweet Dutch.

(Minus the cruise ships.)

The latter shots are views from the top of Pillar Mountain. We hear it's a good place to watch the rockets launch. None are scheduled to be launched until fall, though.

And finally, the lovely Buskin River. Here's a potential rivermouth break. It's where we'll probably be during the next storm, checking out the waves.

One pretty awesome thing about it is it's right on the flight path. This Coast Guard plane flew right over us while we were strolling.

Hitch Hiking Form

This is Boodah's form. We've taught him the original form, but he's sticking with this:

Crab Fest

It's a big deal. Carnival rides! Bed races! Pancake feeds! Coast Guard fly bys! NOAA ship tours! Parade! Survival suit races! Bruin Burgers! Belly Dancers! Authentic Wisconsin Curds! Loads of other healthy food and interesting activities!

Well, here's Boodah's first carnival ride. He was too short to go it alone, so this large hairy man offered to ride with him (rumor has it he had to ask for a seatbelt extension).

Don't let the lack of smiles fool you, everybody was pumped. To Boodah, this may as well have been Top Thrill Dragster. It was no Cedar Point, but still, the rides were great for a 2.5 year old. Of course, his most thrilling moments came when he tumbled down the 20 foot bank by the boat ramp. And narrowly dodged Mama's favorite vomit inducing ride, the Gravitron. We were happy he survived relatively unscathed. No vomit, anyway.

Boodah has discovered a new method of parent manipulation. When one of us says no, he goes over to the other one and says, pointing to the original naysayer, "That lady said no," or "That guy said no." He's also been into calling us by our first names. And Dover.

Here's the Oscar Dyson. It goes on some pretty cool missions:

And a few parade shots:

And the picture you've all been waiting for...

the Bellydancers!

That large pile of sawdust in the foreground was at one point full of $1,000 in change. It's another of the exciting activities for the kids. We kind of wimped out of several activities on account of the stormy weather. That was one of them. We don't feel too bad, even the Coast Guard canceled their fly by. So what I mean is, it was occasionally quite unpleasant out.

And let's not forget the authentic, just airlifted in, Wisconsin Cheese Curds. (We must admit that the local Wisconsinian was not impressed with the quality. But to untrained curd eaters, they were pretty tasty. Boodah was impressed! It was the longest he ever sat still during the entire crabfest.)

Here's the spooky foggy scene on our float plane lake:

Temporary Ome Sweet Ome

Ome is Boodah's pronunciation, of course. We're in little one bedroom in the back of a warehouse.

It's pretty awesome, right on a float plane lake.

This close to the landing strip, float planes are a bit louder than you might guess. Mister was quite scared the first time one took off. Now he's got a tried and true method, straight from Old School. Earmuffs.

The sink doubles as the bathtub. (There is a shower for grown-ups, but the rugrats aren't too in to it.)

Boodah is pumped about the train. He likes to call it his office. Mine office. Mine work.

And he loves his new Eighbor. (Boodah uses the silent "n" for some reason. It's Boodah-ese.) Here she is, reading him a story.

Rum Cay

The hidden paradise in the Bahamas....(our "indestructable waterproof" camera broke on day 2)
