Crab Fest

It's a big deal. Carnival rides! Bed races! Pancake feeds! Coast Guard fly bys! NOAA ship tours! Parade! Survival suit races! Bruin Burgers! Belly Dancers! Authentic Wisconsin Curds! Loads of other healthy food and interesting activities!

Well, here's Boodah's first carnival ride. He was too short to go it alone, so this large hairy man offered to ride with him (rumor has it he had to ask for a seatbelt extension).

Don't let the lack of smiles fool you, everybody was pumped. To Boodah, this may as well have been Top Thrill Dragster. It was no Cedar Point, but still, the rides were great for a 2.5 year old. Of course, his most thrilling moments came when he tumbled down the 20 foot bank by the boat ramp. And narrowly dodged Mama's favorite vomit inducing ride, the Gravitron. We were happy he survived relatively unscathed. No vomit, anyway.

Boodah has discovered a new method of parent manipulation. When one of us says no, he goes over to the other one and says, pointing to the original naysayer, "That lady said no," or "That guy said no." He's also been into calling us by our first names. And Dover.

That large pile of sawdust in the foreground was at one point full of $1,000 in change. It's another of the exciting activities for the kids. We kind of wimped out of several activities on account of the stormy weather. That was one of them. We don't feel too bad, even the Coast Guard canceled their fly by. So what I mean is, it was occasionally quite unpleasant out.

And let's not forget the authentic, just airlifted in, Wisconsin Cheese Curds. (We must admit that the local Wisconsinian was not impressed with the quality. But to untrained curd eaters, they were pretty tasty. Boodah was impressed! It was the longest he ever sat still during the entire crabfest.)
